Marissa's work is about the abstraction of the interior and exterior spaces of our home lives. She achieves this abstraction with the mediums of clay and printmaking to convey her message through the use of; line, color, and texture. This creates a dream-like state that can displace the viewer from their own image of home. Incorporating relatable household motifs and layouts she hopes to bring the viewer back to their own sense of homelife or a nostalgic memory. Marissa’s work makes art historical references as well as personal. She is inspired by movements such as; Surrealism, Abstract Expressionism, Funk Art, and Contemporary Art.
